Why not go for a newer, deisel C4 Picasso if you like them?? £3-4k can get a reasonable one around 10-14 plate...
You should get a reasonable 2010 - 2013 one for that price but not the newer 2013 onwards model. We got 5k as p/ex last year on our 64 plate C4P diesel which the dealer sold on for £6.5k.

    Positives:
Nice high driving position and in terms of practicality and comfort it's unrivalled IMO, we did a few long runs from Birmingham to northern Scotland in the time we owned it and were very impressed with how comfortable it was. It also has a huge boot and a very handy fold flat front passenger seat, I transported an 8ft x 2ft x 2ft wardrobe in it once with no problems, and with a little wiggling, a 6ft x 4ft L shaped desk.

The downside was it had a few expensive faults over the years (we'd had it since new, was originally my partner's motability car which we bought when she was re-assessed and lost the entitlement), all of which happened when the car was between 3 and 5 years old. Whether this was just bad luck or known Citroen issues I don't know, they're reputation for reliability isn't the best:

    • Dual mass flywheel & clutch needed replacing
    • Auxillary drive belt tensioner failed, the part itself wasn't too expensive but it happened at motorway speeds so the shredded belt then wrapped itself around the engine which needed to be partially dismantled to clear
    • Aircon condenser failed
  • SUV's seem so overpriced for my liking. In true Money Saving Expert style we sold the wife's 2016 Seat Ateca and bought a 2009 Toyota Corolla Verso - MPV all the way over a SUV for this money saver!

Just one more point, the height difference in the driving position is literally mm's between the Ateca and the Verso.

That might be something to do with the IX35 weighing around 1500kg and producing 165Nm of torque for the 1.6.

The Suzuki Vitara 1.6 weighs a tad over 1200kg and produces 156Nm of torque.

It's also why I mentioned getting something on a more modern platform, they are generally lighter.

The IX 35 is an older model, Euro 5 and 158g/km Co2

The Suzuki is Euro 6 and 123g/km.

Where is that maximum torque made....?.......4400rpm!!
That's the problem with NA engines right there, in a nutshell.
An already pretty piffling amount of torque is high up the revs, anything below that is even more piffling.
A turbo engine will make maximum torque from 1800rpm and is much more relaxing to drive.
