I think they mean they weren’t completing on sale and buying on the same day. So a gap between owning each property.fishcultureman said:

I recently sold and moved into rented and I looked for a rental prior to exchange and then we exchanged before I signed the AST. I wanted to know I had a place to go before exchange as I had no alternative accommodation for us and the cat. Without the cat I'd have been less bothered.Officially in a clique of idiots0
