Do I need Probate

My father recently passed away. Lived on his own and fully owned his house. He also has £16,000 in the bank and a few possessions. The will leaves everything jointly to me and my brother. I have settled all his financial obligations and closed all accounts. Do I need to apply for probate or can we just sell the house and divide the money and all other assets between us

The house stands in your father's sole name?
If so, you will not be able to sell it until you have probate.
