I am going to ask what Norman_Castle suggested, to remove the plaster but leave the lath and plasterboard it.
    Why?
is this on the first floor? i.e, so theres insulation and loft space above it
or is it ground floor ceiling, so you have a void and then floorboards on top of the joists?

Even with insulation between the joists, it will quite often stay in place once the laths have been removed. If not, some mesh stapled to the joists will stop it from falling down - https://www.toolstation.com/orange-safety-fencing/p52159

    Hi,
It is in first floor. So there is insulation on top of the ceiling.
    Thanks

well, best of luck with it, but nobody can say for sure whether it's possible to remove just the plaster on it's own and leave the laths there, without attempting it first
if it's quite sold still, it could easily take more time to carefully separate the plaster from the laths (without breaking and damaging the laths) than it would to just remove the insulation, drop the entire ceiling, and the re board it and replace the insulation afterwards
  • Just spoke with the traders person. He said he is going to put a hole to check where to nail if we are going to overboard.
We can use that hole to check.
I will keep you updated on how it goes.
