my husband sign up with a company to do a ppi check for him, then heard nothing. He was contacted by the bank a year later, offering him an amount, he then dealt with the bank directly. Who paid him the amount directly into his bank account( the same bank he still banks with). This company have now contacted(9 months later) my husband saying he has 7 days to pay 33% of the money he received from the bank or they are going to commence legal proceedings.
can anybody advise me on what he can do.

He should pay quickly, to avoid any additional fees being added. Claims companies never walk away from their fees.1

I think you are confused as to what a CMC does. They send the complaint in (sometimes as little as just name and address and just a request for the bank to investigate). Then they sit back and wait for the bank to notify them whether it was upheld or rejected. The bank sends the redress directly to the complainant and any follow-up info is requested directly too. The CMC doesnt do any extra work. It is just a very expensive stamp on the original envelope.
