Did you read the other posts in this thread ? Judging service purely from a personal viewpoint is probably unwise, especially with many contradictory opinions.
'As for the reduction on interest. They have made a commercial decision but still remain one of the better interest bearing accounts.

I was just stating that I would not criticise a company that has always given me good service & I would not go wasting my valuable time chasing
a small extra % interest that will only last a short time.
Tell me what`s complacent about that ?.0 -

I certainly didn't intend to be rude - perhaps a little insensitive and blunt but only really a fitting reply in a similar vein to your earlier post.

The thread is about poor service from the Alliance and Leicester as seen through the experience of many people. Your contribution was at the very least unhelpful and as it was addressed to me personally I felt duty bound to respond.

Are you saying your time is more valuable than mine ? My principles are more important than any financial savings to be made and the A&L have acted shabbily here.

You can't be bothered (have been too compacent) to do what most other contributors to this thread have done ie. been treated badly and reacted by closing their accounts. This sort of action is what makes companies think twice about behaving badly - your sort of action clearly condones it.PLEASE DO NOT STEAL

Sorry Rhinno , I thought this thread was about A & L cutting rates & closing accounts & not about bad service.
I am sorry to hear you have been unhappy with their service but I was just stating i have never had any problems as all transfers have gone through quickly. I think I get a good interest rate on my current accout, phone saver & on-line saver . I also get well over £100 cash back on their credit card.
I don`t think I could get significantly better elsewhere.I also opened a n on-line ISA the day before they closed the ISA & everything went through within days. That is the reason I am staying with A&L & not because of complacency.
You would appear to be suggesting we should all boycott them because you think you have had a bad deal.
I am sorry if you thought my post was unhelpful. It was not meant to be either helpfull or otherwise as I was only giving my views on a DISCUSSION board.0 -

I won't waste my time explaining the definition of bad service as it will no doubt land on the same deaf ears as the earlier definition of complacency.
I think we will just have to agree to differ on this one - we clearly have nothing in common and a completely different set of values - mutual respect ain't never going to happen.

Requested by phone that the account be closed on Sunday 10th July. Phoned up this morning as account still not closed and apparently they had no record of my original closure request - oh well :-)PLEASE DO NOT STEAL

Closed an A&L kiddy cheating account today. It was a nice feeling depositing the cheque straight into the Halifax whilst having the free A&L balloons with me. The woman who served me in A&L had obviously closed quite a few of these accounts recently but she put on a brave face, lol....and then the window licker said to me...0
