Hi
Not sure if in right place, feel free to move.
Fed up with yo=yo dieting, and after watching the likes of How to look good naked and what not to wear, have decided that I am not that bad, and I need to get on with my life and wardrobe.
I am petite 5" 1, have a large bust 32ff, went to bravisimo and got it sorted!!
i also have a tummy, 2 large babies in 2 years and 2 c-sections.
i am about a size 10 bottom and 12 top.
I work part time in an office but this may change, smart casual.
Need help on where to start, I seem to have lots of black trousers!
I am going to go through my wardrobe and remove what does not fit.
But what should I replace it with?

Are you my twin sister LOL
I have a similar problem and similar proportions etc
I have done this exercise myself, black pants are great with bright tops, yes even with the ff's if as you say you have the right bra that fits and supports you.
My advice is go out and try some colours you think that you will never wear and if you find something that fits well and you like the colour(s) buy one in every colour they produce (that suits you)
Also don't worry about the size on the label try up and down till you feel comfortable in it, if you are worried about the size you can always cut the label out LOL
Have fun shopping.0 -
Hi crockpot,
Have a look at The Rules and find out what your rules are. Also have a look at Trinny & Susannah's Website which contains images of the first WNTW book. There's also more info on the HTLGN Webiste.
I base most of my clothes purchases on 'the rules' because I can see what T&S mean and that the rules work. I started wearing lots of different colours (not all at once though!) and it gave me lots more confidence.
The only trouble you might have (and I speak from experience!) is that having bigger boobs means you have to buy a larger size to fit your boobs in, which means that it won't fit the rest of your body, so you have to look carefully for what suits you AND what fits. I rely on wearing a little vest under most of my tops, and leaving buttons undone IYSWIM.
Happy shopping - but in true MSE style you'll have to wait for the January sales!"No matter how little money and how few possesions you own, having a dog makes you rich." - Louis Sabin0 -
now is a good time to experiment with skirts and long boots - i think they look much classier that black trousers.
also, lots of places have nice wool trousers in at the mo - i have a brown and cream speckledy pair which look nice with brown ankle boots + almost any tops
how about a wrap around dress? again, teamed with long boots it perfectly smart enough for the office
i love winter clothes, much more flattering than summer!!0 -
there's nothing wrong with keeping black bottoms as the basis of your work look for every day. They're practical and match with pretty much anything.
I used Gok Wan's tip on trying on something you wouldn't normally pick when you go clothes shopping. I ended up with a loud patterned top that actually really suited me- it picked up on the blue tone in my varicose veins and the red in my spots:rotfl:
Just Kidding- by mixing bright tops and more classy jumpers( Tesco do a good range of cheap Cashmere jumpers) you will have plenty to wear wherever you go.
Using the odd scarf and bangle to brighten old things up can work as well.
My favourite blouse and my favourite trousers when worn together make me look like a waitress because it's white shirt, black trousers, so steer clear of that particular combo.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

get a black suit jacket to go with all the black trousers, or even a new suit which has 3 pcs, skirt, trousers, jacket: then, as others have said, this goes with any nice colour tops0

I'm sorry, but their rules say that I should wear high necked tops or rollnecks to accentuate my boobs. No mention of what that does for my double chin - which is not a lot! :rotfl:
Plus, why are small boobs a problem?
I'm quite happy with mine. No-one gawps at them, for starters ... Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Sorry the rules didn't work for you Savvy-Sue. I'm sure lots of people will have other features that some of the styles don't suit. As 'The Rules' generator can only ask you a few questions, and can't actually see you, I guess you have to work around the suggestions they give you. There are normally quite a few styles to try for your given shape, and as you get used to using 'the rules' you can adapt them and use your own ideas.I'm sorry, but their rules say that I should wear high necked tops or rollnecks to accentuate my boobs. Who said small boobs are a problem? I don't think they suggest they are - more that ladies with differing shapes can get away with different styles.

I never have been a slave to rules - once went to a colour class (not a private consultation) and the lady said my favourite pink wasn't one of 'my' colours. I turned up in it the following week and she had to agree that I was right!
"With Wonderbras, chicken fillets and our tips, you need never worry about your lack of cleavage again..."Who said small boobs are a problem? I don't think they suggest they are - more that ladies with differing shapes can get away with different styles.
My emphasis, but either it's a problem people worry about, or it's not a problem and they can stop worrying. IF I were writing the rules, I might say something like "If you want to enhance your cleavage, follow our tips and wear Wonderbras or enhancers." (I'm sorry, I refuse to even contemplate sticking anything inside my bra which remotely resembles a chicken fillet! :rotfl:)
In fact I'd probably split that bit into two sections, probably whatever your boob size is, and give hints for those who want to change it, and those who don't.
Maybe it's me age ... spaghetti straps? Which leave my bra straps showing? I don't think so. It's called UNDERwear for a reason, you know ...
I think the last time I worried about my lack of cleavage I was 16. Me and my sisters had bought new swimming costumes (reduced in the sale, of course!) and were trying each others' on. I was gutted because I couldn't wear big sis's costume because it required boobs, and hers was prettier than mine. Then I got over it, just like I got over wanting little sis's hair, which curled whereas mine never did. She, of course, wanted MY hair.
And don't get me started on the advice to wear low-waisted trousers and hipsters! I HATE 'em! They are not COMFORTABLE! and I am never going to look good in clothes which are not COMFORTABLE! :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Crockpot, I am only 5' 4 and I was advised by a store consultant not to wear a longer jacket that came right below my hips as it "cut off" my legs and made them look short, so, even though I am a slightly pear shape, I wear a shorter neat jacket and I have to say it does have a much nicer effect, I am not swamped.
The only thing is, the ones I have are summer jackets and not really suitable for this weather.
I hate trying to put outfits together, apparantly Debenhams have a free personal shopper service, perhaps you could try that, I am thinking about it.
Also, regarding the !!!!!!, Bravissimo also do tops and other things as well as bras for the larger cup.0 -
Thanks for all that.
Like the idea of the Cashmear jumpers but we only have a small tesco that does not do clothes, might be able to escape the children next week and go a bit further and have a look.
I have seen the Bravisimo tops but although my boobs are big enough, my arms are not long enough, although they do have a nice dress, might see if I can get to a shop.
Like the idea of the Debenhams personal shopper, might ask for money for my birthday and if it a try.
I am not one for buying lots of clothes anyway- they never seem to fit!! Plus was at home for 6 years as a SAHM so did not have the money or the need.
I have ordered 2 tops from Debenhams pepeite online- a clasic 1 for xmas and a black and white crossover.
Still need to finish the sort out.
Thanks again0
