Double up balance transfer

I was wondering if anyone who can help me. I recently did a balance transfer from my Virgin AMEX card to my HSCB mastercard of 2500. At first the transfer didn't go through so i chased them. The transfer then went through twice. In short my Virgin card was credited with 5000 in total (2500 in two separte transactions) but my HSBC card was only debited once. i.e. I am 2500 to the good. I recently had a phone call from my Virgin customer service dept stating that they had been contacted by HSBC requesting that the did a reversal of the second transfer and I have to give my approval. Do i have to give approval for the reversal? obviously this is HSBC's mistake, do i have to give the money back? where do i stand legally?

Any help/advice would be greatfully received

I think that at the moment they are doing the equivalent of "asking you nicely".
If you refuse then I suspect you will get all kinds of people pestering you.
I don't think you have got a leg to stand on legally.
