Toilet cistern keeps refilling and not stopping

Hi all. Can anyone please help. Our toilet cistern keeps filling after each flush without stopping when it should but luckily overflows into the pan.
The internals are the filling loop type with no float .
What could be at fault here? Are we looking at realistically changing the toilet or at least the internals?
Thanks

Depending on the type of fill valve, it is probably just a sealing washer worn out. Absolutely no point in replacing the toilet for the sake of a 10p washer...
If it is a bottom entry fill valve, replacing it with one of these might be worth while - https://www.screwfix.com/p/flomasta-bottom-entry-brass-shank-fill-valve/5527f
Very quiet fill action and easily adjusted for most water levels. Does need a bit of extra space in the cistern (had a bit of a struggle getting it in mine).

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

I had this with one of ours.  Maybe a bit of grit was stuck under the valve.  Try "flicking" the flush button to re-sit the valve.  Then when the water fills, I swirled the water with my hand as I pressed the flush button to see if the bit grit is shifted away.  This solved our cistern issue.
    Good luck.

I've never seen a cistern without any sort of float.

Realistically you are looking at replacing some small rubber washer.  In the worst case scenario - part of the internals.
    Post a photo.

I guess in the first photo the blue float is on the right side.
Does it move freely up and down when the cistern is empty? Can you stop the water running by pulling it up manually?
