Furlough

Options
Ive been furloughed since January 2021 my boss is telling he won't pay me every week as there is a cost to the business. !
Also he's saying I won't get march furlough payments untill April. I no that once a furlough claim is submitted it takes 6 days to come through
Is he ripping me off? I literally can't claim any benefits so I have no income. And my savings are now depleted I have no means of paying my bills

When you say he will not pay you every week, do you mean he will not pay you on a weekly basis, or that you are being unpaid for some weeks? For many employers there is an additional cost of running weekly vs monthly payroll.

Ideally employers are not supposed to pay employees late, but some are really struggling with cash flow so it can and does happen as some do wait for the CJRS payment to reach their bank.

That is unclear until you answer my first paragraph, as to whether you have no income, or a slightly delayed income.

My wife is normally paid weekly however through furlough, her employer has paid calendar month instead. We have had to adjust to this and I guess the only issue is that they don’t mention the amount until payroll runs on the day. Also as a supply school employee they have taken ave earnings and divided them by 365 to calc a day rate and furlough is paid rate x days per month. Schools operate 39 weeks per year, so calculating by 52 weeks diluted the monthly income, so although being paid through summer when no pay would have been made I’m sure this was incorrect due to the calculation. Sorry to hijack with too much info. If they change to monthly it’s acceptable, but they should not withhold any monies

That's the way cjrs is calculated. However, that is only for how much the employer can reclaim. How much the employer should be paying the employee depends on what was agreed at the time they agreed to be furloughed.
