upload files to google drive on phone. l

Log in on PC to google drive with ur google account  and download.

Then delete in Drive

Nope. I'm buying a new cable and taking it from there, it seems the most likely solution

Despite several folks suggesting that you need to alter a setting in your phone .... have you tried that?

Well the options re settings don't appear on my phone when i swipe down and  I don' t understand the suggestion about Drive as I've never used it

New cable did the trick, i'm guessing the other cable was charging only
