Santander Credit Card

Sorry I think I posted in the wrong section
Hello everyone I want to apply for a credit card, the Santander Everyday Credit Card but the eligibility checker says I won’t be able to get it but this happened last time when it said I won’t be to get the Santander Zero Credit Card but I took a risk and I got accepted with a credit limit of £1400 which is now £1900 after 6 months (applied for the CC about 12 months ago). So I’m thinking should I apply for the everyday credit card and take the risk?

I believe Santander allows more than one credit card.

The best way to check is to go onto Santander's website and apply directly on there, as they have an eligibility checker which does a soft search on your credit file and you will know of your chance of being accepted (and credit limit).  If you proceed past this step, onto a full application, that will result in a hard search.

Santander's website will give you a more accurate result than any comparison website, as they are just guessing based on their "idea" of the lenders criteria.  There are other lenders that also provide eligibility checkers such as Lloyds, Halifax, MBNA, Nationwide etc.
  • Which eligibility checker?
On the Santander website and on the Experian it said guaranteed same as the Santander zero

Well, if you have checked the Santander eligibilty checker and it shows guaranteed then if you want it. then go for it?

There is always a chance of rejection upon application and hard search but, you can't really get a better indication than guaranteed, direct from the lender?

I think they might be saying (but it's not clear) that Experian says guaranteed to get it and Santanders own website says they're not. @KareayAhad Can you clarify?

Oh sorry I meant that Experian says that I’m guaranteed I will get it i apply but on Santander’s website it says I won’t be able to get it, but this happened last time with the Santander zero and I got it.

santander are the only ones who will say yes or no, not a 3rd party who make money out of referrals.
it is a bit like you asking my friend if i will lend you a hundred pounds. no matter what the friend says it will be my decision if i do.

Experian use their own data to decide on whether they think you are eligible for a particular card - compared to other people in your financial situation that have been accepted or declined - whereas Santander will use their own internal scoring mechanism to decide if they want you as a customer or not.

Therefore in most cases if Experian said yes - and Santander said no - I'd say it would be a no on application, however you said that Santander said no last time, but said yes on full application. That sounds unusual. You could certainly try again as you did last time, but if they did say no, you'd have one hard search on your history, which in itself is not a bad thing, as long as you then don't start applying here, there and everywhere for other cards.

Out if interest - Are there any other cards from other financial institutions you could get instead that look appealing?

I might just go for the Lloyds Credit Card as i heard you can more than one, and said I’ll be guaranteed approved with a estimated credit limit of I think £7800
