Laptop or tablet...?

The situation is that my aging Lenovo laptop will need replacing soon.
I've ripped it aprt and repaired it many times but im at a point where the lid hinges have snapped and so without some diy engineering and glue, it would require a new casing.
The design is rubbish anyway and i wish laptop builders would ensure that their lid hinges were a bit more robust.
The lenovo is a G500. with an intel CPU 2020M processor 2.4Ghz and windows 10 64bit.
I think its at least five years old and probably more. The diagonal screen size is 15.5 inches which is about 39.5cm.
I dont want to spend more than £400.
I dont need a high powered gaming machine.
I need the screen size to be no less than 14" diagonal and preferably bigger.
I need a proper keyboard
So the dilemma is ,do i get a tablet with a good keyboard as an accessory or do i get another lappy?
If a lappy it must have an SSD drive as my days of waiting for chuntering mechanical drives are over.
Thoughts and recommendations please?

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Tablet 14" screen hmmm... get a refurbished laptop with or without an ssd (you could fit one yourself). Someone will post some links I won't post any since there are others who think they can find better.

im also wondering how my current cpu compares with budget processors available now in the sub £400 lappy market..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). I would say it depends on what you use it for, but for <£400 you can get a much better lappy if refurbished

Agree with everyone else. Tablets are okay for watching Netflix on the train, but impractical for most other things. I'd wouldn't go less than 256 GB SSD / 8GB RAM, but you can even get new laptops in the £400 price range from somewhere like laptops direct for that price. Though I agree with others than a refurbished model will get you more bang for your buck.
I'm still running Windows 10 on 4 GB RAM / 128 GB SSD / i5 2.4 GHz HP I bought back in 2016 for £299 (refurbished). Using Onedrive for data storage. No performance issues for everyday stuff, but I wouldn't buy the same spec now. But it shows you can get 5+ years out of a low-end laptop."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

There is also this Medion with a three year warranty:
https://www.aldi.co.uk/medion-akoya-15-6"-notebook/p/709331429602400
Though it doesn't look to have an IPS/Wide Viewing Angle screen. Also not sure about availability of parts. If you want to change the battery after some years for instance.0
