new radiator installed - not working & low hot water pressure

a new radiator was installed downstairs recently as part of a wider refurb that does not heat up and the hot water is nothing but dribbling out of the kitchen taps.
All my other radiators are working; The contractors plumber has said the system needs a power flush.
My question is will that fix the issues and additionally, should the refurb company foot the bill as everything was in good working order before work started?

When they fitted the radiator they would i presume have drained the system. If they did they would know then it needed a power flush. But if all your other rads work I suspect that they may have done something wrong. stupid question but are both rad valves open? And was it bled so it is full of water on instalation. As for the tap if it was ok before work was started then they have done something wrong it may be a simple thing like not turning on a isolation valve. Plus you don't power flush hot & cold water systems. Hope you get it sorted

Hi Sombre. What kind of boiler do you have - combi or system (conventional)? Are your other hot taps working ok?Bottom line - these are two separate issues; the rads and the hot water supply are two separate systems, and one doesn't (shouldn't) affect the other. If the non-working rad is down to sludge - ie it needs a powerflush - then that is not their fault; that's a long-term issue that was almost certainly going to cause a problem at some point. Having said that, it must surely be unlikely to be sludge since all the other rads are working ok! There's a chance that carrying out this work somehow dislodged some sludge and that's blocked your new pipe, but the actual chances of this must be very low.I wouldn't let them charge you for a powerflush (a £ew hundred) unless they can demonstrate that is the issue. The slow tap is something else.0

Ah, just re-read your reply where you say the bathroom 'hot' is fine? In that case, it's more likely to be as doneme says. Have you had a look under your sink unit to see if there are valves on the pipes? You can post a photo.

When a new radiator is added, inevitably the entire system may need to be balanced.
Does this one radiator work if you switch all of the others off?0 -
Get the refurb company back & explain the problem to them.
Tell them to sort it.
Never mind messing about with power flushes.
