....... and if they do try a court claim and send the paperwork to the wrong address, you will never know about it, can do nothing about it (defence) and will get a default judgment against you!Coupon-mad said:I’m assuming they have my address now since they instructed the DCA to act on their behalf?Nope, the 'Debt Recovery' impersonators have done a trace if they are writing to a new address. Never assume the PPC has the same address.
You MUST rectify your data with the PPC data protection officer. That makes no difference to the ball rolling towards a meritless court claim. It already is.2 -
I said "must" foir a reason.mellyworm said:@nosferatu1001 if I make contact then they have my details - I believe I am not liable for this debt. It was such a long time ago- I’m assuming they have my address now since they instructed the DCA to act on their behalf?
if I must update my address with them then I assume the ball will start rolling for them to commence legal/court?
Do it or not, but if you get a claim at your old address, therefore a default, thereore a credit wrecking CCJ, dont come panicking2 -
The regulars don't give advice for fun. It is always for a very good reason. The very good reason for advising you to update your contact details is to prevent the scammers obtaining a default judgment against you that will drastically affect your ability to obtain credit for six years.
You must tell the DPO of the scammers to erase your data and replace it with your current address for service, and to instruct their agents to do likewise.
Make sure you use the words I have underlined.

Thank you @nosferatu1001 and @Fruitcake for your patience and clarification.
I will of course follow your advice- I have also complained to my local MP. It’s so unsettling to receive such correspondence 6years later and I have seen soo many forums before I discovered this one that seemed conflicting. Thank you for taking the time to respond.0 -
You are on the right forum now. The PPC's and dodgy legals use it as a bible and we stop them from running riot and onwards to get them kicked out of court.mellyworm said:Thank you @nosferatu1001 and @Fruitcake for your patience and clarification.

Hi there, today I have received this letter. I just wanted to check - do I need to take any action at all? 0 -
That is a debt collector letter - refer to the NEWBIE sticky for advice on what to do with it. BTW you have left your name showing.2

Thank you! I have removed now. I will have a look now, I think that previous advice also confirmed if it’s from their Legal company to take action but I note they use ‘legal’ in their wording.Le_Kirk said:That is a debt collector letter - refer to the NEWBIE sticky for advice on what to do with it. As the date of the original parking event was 24/08/2015, you are within 29 days of the whole thing timing out (after 6 years) as a consequence of the Limitations Act 1980.String them along with some innate (bl00dy predictive text!) inane questions to 24/08/2021, then they can go swivel. There is no danger of this getting to court. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
