Condensation between double glazed panes - repair or replace?

A couple of the panes in the windows of the house I have recently bought have moistured trapped inside them...  is there any way that can be fixed or would it be a case of having to have the window replaced..? :'(

I don't think this can be repaired, but sealed glass units usually can be replaced. There is no need to replace windows.

You don't have to replace the whole window.  Any decent glazing company will be able to make up a new glazing panel to fit the old frame.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
  • There was an attempted fad once upon a time with repairing them - a tiny hole was drilled (perhaps two) to allow the gap to ne ventilated. Not sure how this would work with toughened glass.
Anyhoo, haven't seen that for quite a while.
Martin, see if there's a 'Mr Misty' type outfit in your area who specialises in this - replacing just the DG unit. Or else contact local reputable windows companies.
Are you even up for some DIY?! It can be quite straight-forward to remove and replace, and then you'd only have the cost of the actual units - around £60 a pop. But, it can also be awkward depending on the type of beading, whether it's internally or externally fitted, age of windows etc. Not always for the faint-hearted, and I speak as a DIYer who'll tackle just about anything, but cussed quite a bit when I undertook just this job a few years back.

We had a company called Cloudy2Clear do one of ours.  I think they are a national franchise.  We were happy with the work they did.
  • Thanks everyone! I'll give cloudy2clear a look...!

any double glazing firm can come out measure and make then refit this . check the thickness of glass and the cavity of the air space . best getting new units made its too much faff to take out the old . split new bar/ dessicant and reseal . unless its a special leaded window or shape that's hard to reproduce . should get a few free quotes first .
