Thank you all for your answers and for telling me what I needed to hear rather than what I want to hear.
I have to admit that I am not a perfect human being,
I have got a job offer now pending reference, told the new employer, they were certainly sympathetic and said because of my honesty they would like to give me a chance, as the new place manager knows my previous place manager, said that she had spoken to him before she invited me over for an interview.

Your current employer clearly knows about your application to the other company. Speak to your current employer about the reference. It's possible the potential new employer knows the background but you need to ask to be certain.
