Still no progress and no cheque!
On line has not been updated further either.
How long should we leave things before trying to chase this up, and what are the best methods of contacting HMRC?
Will his record show once a rebate cheque has been issued? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
How many staff are currently isolating?0

Probably all of them!!!! But weren't they already mainly "working" from home?
But hey, they're no doubt on really good sick pay. Up to 28 days without needing a fit note too! How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

I get all that.
So when would be an appropriate timescale to start chasing this up?

I have been working from home since lockdown started in March 2020. Generally, in a non customer facing job, I can do my job from home with little difference to when I am in the office. And essentially HMRC have followed the government guidance regards working from home. When that guidance has been to get staff back in the office that is what has happened, but due to Covid precautionary measures the office capacity has been reduced so it has been the operational staff that have taken priority.
I won't bore you with the details but I could quote you several examples during that time, when workloads demanded, that I have worked extra hours, sometimes 12 hour days. And yes I get the credit for that on my flexi time. Earliest start time 5am, latest finish time 7pm but to be honest that was mainly due to my crap internet connectivity and trying to work at times when the network was quieter.
I find it quite offensive that the general thinking, usually from people who have no experience of working in the public sector, is that public sector staff are skiving from home whilst staff in the "wealth creating" private sector are working their backsides off from home.
As regards sick pay I am not sure of the exact numbers but I would be pretty sure that in my 39 year career I have averaged less than 1 day per year off sick. I remember 8 years without any sick absence and 11 years with just 1 day off. I had Covid last year but my symptoms weren't too bad. A bit of a cough and a bit of a sniffle but generally just very tired. Guess what, I didn't take any time off sick.
But maybe I'm just the exception that proves the rule!!

Ooh something touched a nerve.
Seems like nothing can be said tongue in cheek any more!!
If everyone was being as efficient working from home, rather than being in the office, then why would many sectors be reporting delays and poor customer service.
So when should we expect our rebate? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

With regards to the rebate, sorry no idea it's not my line of work.1 -
I have just tried this service for you online:
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/check-when-you-can-expect-a-reply-from-hmrc
I put the 19th October 2021 as the date you contacted them.
Unfortunately, the bad news is they say you can expect a reply by:
12 July 2022
It may be worth a call anyway, but you may get the same answer1 -
Crickey!!!
What I don't understand is why it seems to have only been half processed.
They've updated their systems to show that no tax is due, and they'll know that £4200 has has been deducted, so why not finish the process and issue the cheque at the same time?
And why state 8th December 21 as expected completion (and not update it) if they don't have a hope of dealing with it before then.
I'm sure I've read somewhere that most customer dissatisfaction comes from lack of information, rather than delays themselves.
We really want this sorted during this tax year, as once DH goes into drawdown in April, he will be paying some tax, and we'd rather it didn't get messy. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
