Yes, the plans were fragmented, with 5 separate plan numbers.
As for the MA, I applied a couple of months ago (early July) and had an email saying it was successful, but when logging on to DHs HMRC account, nothing is shown.
I guess it doesn't get updated until a return or rebate request is made? How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
If there is no need to for a new tax code and it is a current tax year only application then as I understand it HMRC don't send any notification (to either the applicant or recipient) regarding Marriage Allowance at the point it is applied for.
You/he may be able to check the separate Marriage Allowance section of his Personal Tax Account to see of this shows anything regarding the status of the claim.
But I don't see any reason why he wouldn't get the £252 credit included in any current tax year repayment claim calculation.

I checked his tax account and nothing specific showing about the allowance, but the 5 "incomes" are listed.
I'll have another look tomorrow, if there is a specific section.
We'll complete the online form over the weekend and see what happens. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
I think on the home screen - where you can access PAYE, National Insurance and State Pension sections - there is a section for Marriage Allowance.1

Thanks for that...I just hadn't scrolled down far enough...Doh!!!
Anyway, yes, it is showing that it's been applied for and registered and so should be automatically taken into account when we apply for the tax rebate...hopefully!!How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
Just by way of an update and to let others know.
We logged onto Government Gateway to apply for the tax rebate, and it said that you should only apply after 35 days have passed since you either stopped work or took a pension payment.
So rather than risk applying early and have the system fall over, we've diaried it for Mid October.

Well, it's a good job I kept my own records of all savings interest paid to us both, as HMRC have asked for clarification of the interest paid by DH, for the 20/21 tax year, before they can process his P50Z tax rebate form for 21/22, as we've only actually received about half of the tax certificates he may need. It's from 12 different account, most of which have now matured, and not been replaced.
He did actually earn £1600, but as he had no other taxable income that year, it will not be subject to tax.
Hopefully it will not mess up the tax rebate, as even if they "assume" same again for 21/22, he should still not owe tax.
Total pension pot £17,700
25% tax free - £4,425
taxable income £13,275
Personal allowance - £12,570
20% tax due on £705 = £141
Marriage allowance - tax rebate up to £252
Tax deducted - £4,200
Somehow, I don't think we're going to see that money this side of 2021!!
If it's going to be this much aggro to take one off taxable lump sums, I think we'll go for monthly drawdown, and pay (any) tax on a PAYE basis.

For anyone interested...
Logged on to HMRC and they have received the interest form and it's being processed.
Expected completion date, 8th December (+ 14 days to allow for post!)How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)2 -
By way of an update...the form is still in the "processing" stage, and the expected completion is still showing as 8th December.
However, there has been some progress, as his tax for this tax year, has been updated to show £0 to pay, so hopefully this will be concluded soon, and he'll get his rebate. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
