How can I download a Facebook video to watch offline?

I use Facebook on my laptop using Chrome.

Before the Facebook facelift, I could right click on a video, get the address, replace www with mbasic and then run it and save it from there... that doesn't seem to be possible anymore.

Please could someone tell me an easy and safe way of downloading / copying videos so they are on my harddrive for watching offline?

Thank you

It downloads most videos but some have a form of protection and cannot be downloaded

I use online service, this one: https://en.savefrom.net/18/ In the bottom of the page they have a list of sites you could download from, i.e. if you want FB only, go there and save that address. They have downloader as well. I've never used it, so I could not tell if it's good and whether it is chrome/browser extension or proper program you have to install to your computer. In their help, as far as  remember, they say it's slower with online service. But since I use it quite seldom and mostly in unusual hours, it's Ok.

Site (savefrom) says you can download by pasting the facebook video page url into the download bar (looks like a search bar) on their front page or via their "Savefrom.net Helper" extension - no idea if this works or is dodgy/full of viruses or spyware/adware,
possibly/probably dodgy as I can't find it on the Chrome Web Store.
