LL asking for access to property

The report may highlight a number of issues with the electrics in the property which need to be addressed.
The whole property may require a complete rewire which can involve a great deal of disruption and is better off done when the property is empty.
The Landlord has at least asked if he can carry out the EICR as required by law and it's up to you if you will allow the works to be done before you move out.0 -

Hi
Our LL wants to get an electrician to conduct the EICR testing. We have a valid gas certificate for another 6 months or so, but the electric testing has to happen by 1st April.
We’ve given notice and moving out in the last week of April. We’ve even done remote viewings through WhatsApp and Skype to avoid leaving the house as my partner is a germ magnet. Rubbish - at least cannot be more so than anyone else.
On top of that, we’ve both came down with a cold/flu, (even though you have avoided leaving the house because you are self-isolating/shielding?) I wouldn’t expect it’s covid, as we are self-isolating/shielding. This doesn’t help if we have to step out for a good few hours into the cold, as going anywhere indoors is a no-go for us.
How should we respond to our LL so we can safely stay here without exposure to anyone until the move-out date?
Regards

Sorry but you don't want anyone in your house in March but you are quite happy to go out into the big wide world in April and move house?
You haven't answered the question of what you would do in an emergency, eg. water pouring down through the lights due to a leak upstairsIf you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.2 -

It's not ideal and I'd be more than happy to fully comply if only we could go somewhere else and get a coffee without worrying if we are inhaling a deadly virus.
Not sure if this is a popular or unpopular opinion, but we all have to make decisions to stay safe, stay sane and healthy in these unpopular times.0 -

How did you catch the flu?
Also, how are you moving house, I mean practically.5 -
The EICR is also about keeping you safe. For all you know there is an unsafe electrical situation within your four walls waiting to electrocute you or burn your house down. The EICR is about finding such problems before they do harm. You really should allow the test for your own safety.5

Sounds like you need to get out and get some fresh air, might do both your mental and physical health some good.
I mean come on you can move house but can't leave the house for a short time to allow an essential inspection....5 -
