I have often used the inbuilt app 'Photos' on my Win 10 laptop to import images from my android mobile phone (connected via USB). This was perfect because there was a setting allowing you to choose where you saved the images (that setting is still there) and whether to save them in separate date folders (that feature was removed in a Win 10 update).
I've tried importing images using Adobe Bridge (part of Photoshop) but my rather old version (updated to the latest version supplied) simply doesn't recognise my connected phone. A pity, because later versions of Bridge do offer a range of importing settings.

So, while Microsoft slowly (if ever) get around to many peoples requests to reinstate the ability to import images to dated folders, is there any other simple program, hopefully free, that will allow me to import images and have them imported by date taken. (Please note that the date folders would be created by the importing program, not by me in advance).
I don't mind if the suggested program offers many other features which I won't use, I simply want the import flexibility.
Thanks for any help.

I manually import photos from my Android6 phone using file manager and store them in the appropriate folders that I create myself.

It is very easy to do that. You don't need a specialist programme.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Thanks. Yes, I know what you mean. But if you've taken quite a few photos, over a range of days, it becomes tedious to check the dates, create a folder for each one, then import to each folder in turn. Far better to have a program that creates the date folders on the fly and imports images to them automatically, like 'Photos' used to do (and like Adobe Bridge would do, if connection to a mobile was supported - which in my version it ain't).

Do you really need dated folders these days as photos have the date in file name? I just have one folder 'memories' with sub folders of each year and just use the Google photos search function to group and find photos if needed

Thanks guys. Well, I've always had my photos saved in date folders - probably since that's the way I've been importing them ever since I got a Canon digital camera and that's the way the import worked. So I've got used to that. pbartlett - thanks for the link but that doesn't do what I beed. Not to worry.
I've now tried various other image management programs - Picasso (still available but no longer supported), Pictomio, and ZnViewer. I thought Picasso was going to be OK but when I imported the images, the dated folders were all over the place. Images all taken on one day ended up in seperate folders with the wrong dates - a known problem with Picasso it seems.
I thought this would be simple.
So unless I can get something that does this automatically, I need to connect the phone and just use file explorer to copy and paste images into folders I create myself.
    Thanks again.

Well I think I've sorted this out - a workaround at least. I've searched and come across a little program called PhotoMove 2.5. It's designed to take images from one place in a PC, then create dated folders in another place and copy/move the the images into it. My workaround is to use File Explorer to copy all the images from the connected phone into a 'holding' folder within the Pictures folder on the PC. Then I use PhotoMove to copy those images into dated subfolders within the Pictures folder. I can set it so that if images already exist in the destination, then they are not copied. I then delete all the images in the holding folder, ready for the next import. This works really well. The only improvement would be if I could specify the connected phones Pictures folder as the source, rather than having to manually copy them to the PC first. Within PhotoMove, I can navigate to the phones Picture folder, but it isn't able to 'see' the images. So, anyway, all sorted for me.
