Tips for making/saving money as a college student?

Options
I'll be going to college next year and im realizing I'll need to be financially independent pretty soon and I'd like to get ahead of the curve. I already have a credit scor from 678-695 which good apparently but I can only do so much without money. I've been doing short term coin investing and have made like 50$ so far but its risky. Any tips out there for saving/earning money? (Other than a job ofc).

  • Your credit score won't pay the bills. All it is really is a measure of how much debt you have or can get into. Forget it, you need to find ways to make money, as much as you can before you go to college so that you don't need to work during term time if you can help it. Generally, the easiest route is to get a job and pile up the cash. You could also look at some side hustles (e.g. buying/selling clothes, food delivery) which you might be able to continue during term time.
  • Are you in America (college, dollar) This forum is uk based, so specific suggestions below might not therefore be applicable.

As you say short term investing is risky, only invest (gamble) money you can afford to lose.
Personally I would focus on minimising spend/not wasting money (without sacrificing quality of life - make sure you enjoy university!) first and then look at quick, easy, risk free ways to make money before looking at investing, or getting a job alongside studies.

No real point earning £100 a week and then just wasting that!

some easy ways to makemoney such as making sure you are on cheap mobile phone deals, bank switches, cash back sites like Topvashback and Quidco (use when you will be buying anyway, don’t use as an excuse to spend).
