HELP. Rug from China.

I was a bit silly. I ordered a rug from rugshow which I thought was from the UK as their email is rugshow.co.uk. It turns out its a company in China. The rug which arrived was not the colour shown and also the quality was very poor. Contacted them to say I wasn't happy and they firstly offered money off if I kept it, and then when realising I didn't want to keep it have said I can return it to China. The address on the delivery note is UK based. I paid through PayPal. What is my best option???
Thanks x

Unfortunately if the company is Chinese, your consumer rights are also Chinese.  The site's returns policy looks 'dodgy'.

The UK address will be only a distribution centre which  does not  accept returns.

paypal are a holding bank, and are very use full for buying and selling stuff .how much was the rug?  if you paid on credit card, you may find the credit card company are liable as they act as a third party. not sure if that works when you bought it direct from china. I would say try paypal, and if that fails, phone your credit card company, rather than email them, and tell them whats happened. good luck.

There isn't really anything to complain about.
Rugshow don't appear to have done anything wrong as they haven't stated that they are based in the UK or governed by UK law and their T&C's do state that the contract is covered by the laws of China.
A .co.uk suffix on a website doesn't mean that the company concerned is based in the UK as anyone can legally set up a website with a .co.uk suffix.

The company have not refused to refund you. They require the goods returned first . that is normal practice.
You cannot keep the goods and get a  refund.

I agree that I should have checked on where they were based before ordering. Lesson definitely learned. I just wonder how many others are getting caught out thinking it's UK based and also the quality is shocking so your stuck between spending loads on sending back or keeping a rubbish rug. Anyway, lesson learned

Similar situation happened to my wife. Ordered a dress from LOTIMENA UK website.
Item arrived was not acceptable. Full refund offered if item was returned to China!!. Other option was a 15% refund and not return item so we took the 15%.
