If you've got a helpful answer, then please give some advice but have a bit of empathy for goodness sake.

    Where is your helpful reply?

At least I explained why it was.  All I see from you is an attempt to create an argument.  How very unhelpful and judgemental of you.

If I could have direct messaged you, I would have done to ask you to be more considerate.  I'm just asking you to be more thoughtful.  The guy is probably struggling enough as it is without being told to not get worked up.

One good thing about this forum is that people give their straight to point opinion and don't beat around the bush. I think it's good to have a place where you can get honest opinions from people of how they truly see it.
Another good thing about this forum is that there are some rules, one of them being "Be friendly to other MoneySavers, board guides and the forum team. The forum community is intended to be a safe place that supports mental wellbeing."

And the very first sentence is "we hope the open and free MSE Forum is a great MoneySaving community for people to chat and discuss consumer issues in a supportive safe space, free from nasty comments, abuse, bullying" etc.

What you call 'Honest opinions from people of how they truly see it' can seem harsh and critical to other people, especially when they find themselves in difficult circumstances like this OP. Some 'beating about the bush' is sometimes necessary.
Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. Sympathy doesn't pay the bills or reduce the premium, that is the bottom line. This is a money saving website and the OP got an answer, albeit not the one they were hoping for. It was to the point and factual.

Perhaps mumsnet is more suitable for you, if your looking for treehugging and rose tinted glasses and being told everything will be fine, including the premiums.

You've obviously missed the policy of MSE that states, "we hope the open and free MSE Forum is a great MoneySaving community for people to chat and discuss consumer issues, in a supportive safe space, free from nasty comments, abuse, bullying" etc.

Your sarcastic comments aren't helpful either. You may, or may not, be interested to know that one forum user who contacted me via private message said that he had been so upset by some of the unsympathetic comments on this forum when he was feeling suicidal that he had seriously considered taking an overdose.

Trying to belittle others isn't really very supportive.

And yet users on here who provide realistic honest advice, gets reprimanded by both OP and moderators and in some instances Perma Banned.

The advice given by Dunstoh is pretty clear cut, sadly other's have not taken to this and would rather like to be told what they wanted to hear.  An example is G_M on the housing boards, Bowelhead99 on the investment boards all through OP's not liking what they saw/heard.

Would you rather knowing the truth than being told a lie? Like the insurers are evil corporations and wants to milk as much money from the unemployed?

Guess everyone is different and indeed we are going off track off the original Op's question which has been answered factually by DunStoh

"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

    G_M/ Bowlhead99 RIP

dunstonh first reply gave the information that was needed in a straight way and it certainly wasn't in any was nasty, abusive or any form of bullying. So actually i would say that was a friendly and supportive comment because it was meant to help the OP.

If someone interprets some comments as "harsh and critical" then that is their own problem by interpreting things in a negative way. Beating about the bush helps no one when people are in need of direct and concise information.

If someone is going to interpret a neutral comment incorrectly as "harsh and critical" then they have no chance of interpreting a comment correctly that is vague and ambiguous written in an attempt to be a friendly as possible as the top consideration.
