I signed up for four wills back in 2016 on the understanding that "You can make unlimited changes and unlimited re-prints of your Amended Wills. However, after your initial purchase they will not be checked again unless you pay the checking fee of £14.99 per document"
When I went to amend an address last night it asked for a fee. When I queried this I was advised
"Thank you for contacting us. The 100% discount for re-writes only applies within 60 days of the original purchase, and thereafter the discount is reduced to 20%. Please be aware that the 20%-discounted fee to re-make your documents does include checking by a professional. Furthermore, once you have paid then the 60 day ‘counter’ is ‘reset’ i.e. you get 100% discount on further re-writes for another 60 days."
I am very angry that terms and conditions have been changed with no notification and I am not receiving the service I have paid for.
What options do I have for compensation?

So in other words their offers are worthless?

Maybe it is just me, but I would never use a website to make what it probably one of the most important documents of my life.

Yes, that seems very sharp practice. I doubt a court would uphold that term, I expect it would be judged unfair. However I am not sure there is much you can do in practice to get redress. Taking them to court is unlikely to be worth the time, money and effort.

I wouldn't want to rely on a company with this type of behaviour writing a will for me.

The advice on here from the regular contributors is to get a properly drawn up will by a local solicitor. This maybe a money saving site, but skimping money on one of the most important documents you make is a poor choice. Yes you may save a couple of hundred pounds, but it could cost your intended beneficiaries many thousands if errors have been made and there is no comeback if you have used unregulated will writers.

A solicitor is also likely to cover all the what if situations that make having to make changes soon after making the will less likely.

@Miki -  there is no need to amend a will for an address change - just include info on a sheet of paper for your executors.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

If that's a property you own and will be inherited by someone, it's unwise to have the address listed in the will.  Beneficiaries have been left without an inheritance because the property had been sold and the will hadn't been altered before the person died.
If it's the address of a beneficiary or a witness, it doesn't need to be altered.
