You are not going to get all of that lot. Save your breath.

You are entitled to a refund. Take it or take the £200. Your choice.

    Use 14 day exchange.
Why have a car you are not happy with.
Did you use the video tour offered by Car shop?during that you would /could have picked up the issues before you decided to buy.

If this was me, I'd use the 14-day return and refund (given the OP states they do not have a suitable exchange available).
However, the OP is happy to accept the vehicle but not in agreement on the value of the "goodwill gesture" being offered at £200 versus £500 wanted.  The ability to negotiate this sum up is going to be set by "was the car cheap to start with?" and "at what point does it become financially favourable for the dealer to have the car back to retail rather than write a cheque?"

£500 seems reasonable to me, but they may just say take the £200 or accept a refund. Good luck

With that amount of staining and crap (not sure how old vehicle is) I would return/refund,doest bode well for how the car has been treated.
  • tbf i sympathise with the OP. items advertised are not always instantly testable when picking up a car in these circumstances but i would definitely have pushed for £1,000 back or just returned the car. yes it's a pain but you've already said a car of your general spec can be bought for £1500 less so i would suffer the hassle and buy a car elsewhere.

no excuse either to supply a car of this value in a filthy state like that. rather reduces the 'new' car ownership experience somewhat.

    Update.

The manager of the store looked at my email and pictures and agreed with no hesitation to the £500 I asked for and apologised.

It is worth pursuing if you are ever in a similar situation. I want to keep the car, it drives great, it just needs a valet inside and the money covers getting most of the issues I have sorted so I’ll have the car I thought I was getting, mostly. Overall I’m satisfied and happy they didn’t fight back too much.
    Claimed: RBS Charges £1949.92 + £673.63 interest, Total £2623.55. A&L PPI £461.69 + £115.50, Total £577.19
Won: RBS £1949.92 :T (Settlement, no interest). A&L PPI £577.19!!!

You should never buy a car without test driving it and lockdown doesn't prohibit test drives so i wouldn't have even considered buying an £18,000 car if they wouldn't let me test drive it.
But if i was in your situation i would have given the car right back and even with £500 back it doesn't replace the features that you have lost, a dashcam is no replacement for adaptive cruise control which makes motorway driving far easier for example.

Op glad your happy. With that amount of ingrained dirt /staining I would still be wary about its former life, not sure how old the car is but that sure is a uncared for interior, looks like food or similar has been sprayed ?
    All the best with it.
