Pending payment

I’ve bought an item on EBay from a new seller (0 feedback.).  I paid via PayPal but the payment is showing as pending because the vendor hasn’t claimed it. I seem to recall that happens when an email address is provided for payment that isn’t actually connected to a PayPal account. The seller has ignored a couple of messages about this.

I’m  happy to abandon the purchase, it’s nothing important, but is there any way to withdraw the PayPal payment rather than leave it pending indefinitely? I don’t really want the seller finally sorting this out in a month or so and the money being claimed.

Just to say this isn’t an echeque ( not sure if they even still exist  😁) but definitely an unclaimed payment.
any suggestions appreciated
Thanks
Stig

    When was the payment made?

You can open an eBay case for Item Not Received as soon as the estimated delivery date has passed.

No reason I can see that you will have to wait a month or more.

I thought that at first, but the item  doesn’t currently show up  as paid for, so I assumed I couldn’t claim non-delivery for an item that doesn’t show as paid, just pending payment? Surely the delivery requirement only kicks in once the item is paid for?

I’ll try  claiming non-delivery in a few days, see what happens

I think you can cancel a payment shown as pending, log into paypal and have a look.

I also thought it could be recalled if it wasn’t claimed. A few of my Facebook buyers type the wrong PayPal ID for me and they always seem to be able to reclaim their payment straight away and repay properly.

You can go into PayPal and cancel the payment, just find and open the transaction in your history and you'll have the option to cancel it.
