Standing Charges.. why are they increased?
Enough that I will be paying nearly 2p per KwH for gas, and 1.3p per Kwh for electric, but why oh Why do they feel the need to increase the standing charges.
Surely, as it is static, and no one comes to read it, and I send in a monthy reading to BULB every month, they can go by that?
I dont get paid to read the meter. the gas and electricity dont run through them at a different speed becasue the price has gone up.
So could someone explain the fundamental reasoning behind not only upping fuel prices, but upping meter quarterage as well?
stumped.

If I were born five years later, none of this would have happened!!

Many suppliers have been setting low standing charges as a "loss leader" but the strategy has claimed several casualties of late. Also, SC's aren't just for reading the meter. It mainly pays the DNO/pipeline operator to maintain the network that gets the power/gas into your home.Look for a quote elsewhere if you don't like Bulb's offering.0

Simple : because they can.0

Presumably because those who own and maintain the network and infrastructure to get it from wherever it comes from or is generated and all the way to your house have the temerity to want to get paid more money for doing it.
I guess that's not only the people who sit in comfy offices but also those who get called out at all hours of the day and night in fair or foul weather to ensure that it still gets all the way to you house.
You also have to stump up a bit extra for those who cant or wont pay their bills, not forgetting the taxman who wants his cut and the green lot who don't seem to realise that it's the rest of us who have to fork out for all the extra costs that get piled on. Non of it comes for free.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Those £475 smart meters have to paid for somehow !0

Where did you get the term meter quarterage from? Sounds like you might be paying quarterly on receipt of bill (expensive).0
