My first time on here so I’m not sure if this is the right part. I have an oven less than 2years old it’s playing up and the want to change me over £100 to fix it. Can this be right.

You are in the wrong place with this you should probably have posted it in the 'In My Home' or 'Is this Quote Fair' sections upstairs.

Are you saying that the warranty is shorter than 2 years?
If so, you can exercise your consumer's rights against the retailer.

IMO, "reasonable time" to last for an oven is longer than 2 years, and, I think, any judge will agree.

  • Hi Lynda.

What's wrong with it? If it's a 'consumable' - oven element, that sort of thing - then I suspect you are stuffed. If, however, it's a component that simply shouldn't have failed in 2 years - controls, timer etc - then you should be covered under the Consumer Rights Acts https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2015/15/section/9/enacted

How to approach? Not sure, and whether a Small Claims is worth it for £100 I also can't say. But certainly go through the correct process so that you have the option to launch a claim should you wish.

Why £100? Is this one of these '5-year FREE warranty for parts!', type situation - but you pay labour?!

Do you have Leg Prot on your house insurance? If so, phone them for advice - how to handle this.
