Nabuh Energy or Together Energy

I'm one of the Simplicity Energy casualties now searching for a new tariff before the Fool's day deadline.  After fumbling through various Energy Comparison sites the two cheapest providers for my dual fuel tariff are Nabuh Energy and Together Energy.
Together Energy came up in most of the comparisons as the cheapest and so seem a reasonably safe bet although their Trustpilot score ain't great (2.6).
Nabuh Energy only came up in one comparison search (https://www.which.co.uk/) and it's the cheapest but it's only got a Trustpilot score of (1.4)
Obviously, I'm wanting to go for the cheapest but given the poor reviews of Nabuh and the fact I've never heard of them, it might end up being a false economy?
The electric price tariff difference between the 2 companies is 2p and so potentially a big saving to be had.

  • I'm surprised these two suppliers came up as the cheapest options. Are you on a pre-payment meter?

Nabuh would come out as one of the cheapest suppliers for a pre-payment meter however don't normally show up on Direct Debit comparisons. I personally would avoid Nabuh. They're currently under a final order from Ofgem for not being able to pay their 19/20 RO bill back in October. I haven't seen anywhere that this has been lifted so I'm assuming they still havent' paid it off in full.

Together Energy are 50% owned by Warrington Council who have plans for it going forward, so will keep it going for a bit.

https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/our-work/citizens-advice-consumer-work/supplier-performance/energy-supplier-performance/compare-domestic-energy-suppliers-customer-service/ - This is another way to have a look at supplier performances. As you can see Nabuh are 3rd from bottom.

It would be interested to your know meter/payment type along with Gas & Elec Estimated Annual Usage as those 2 suppliers I normally wouldnt' expect to come back as the cheapest.

I guess it's area specific.  I'm in London and so I guess the divvying up of the market by postcode is random and chaotic.

Re: Nabuh - actually, when I did a search on Energylinx, Nabuh comes up on top before the search engine automatically resets.. deleting Nabuh from the result thereafter putting Together Energy top.  Clearly Energylinx has issues with Nabuh.

So in spite of the Nabuh bait rate of 14.14p/kwh for Elec, further to reviews, it looks like I'll have to pass on that.  The tariff is called Nabuh Energy Jack - 12 months - traditional meters only.  Standard household consumption, dual fuel heavily weighted towards elec consumption.

Good luck if you try to switch to Nabuh. I decided to move to them, as they were the lowest cost when I used the Switch with Which comparison site. I have a traditional E7 meter and pay monthly by DD. Currently with EON on a fixed tariff that expires at the end of March.
I submitted the switch request through Nabuh's website and received an email later in the day to say my new DD had been set up successfully. Then I heard no more for several days. I contacted them via their online chat. The first agent told me that EON had rejected my switch application and suggested I contact EON to find out why. I spoke with EON who advised they had received no switch request and that there was nothing on my account that would prevent as switch from going through. So back to Nabuh chat, only to be told by a different agent that my switch request was stuck in their system and had not been submitted to EON. He suggested we cancel the initial application and submit a new application again over the phone. (Perhaps he gets a bonus for phone sign ups!!).  Anyway, the next day he called me and we set up a new switch request. Again I received an email confirming my DD had been set up. Then nothing. Deja vu!! Once again I contacted them through their chat service and ended up discussing the situation with the same agent who set up the second switch request. Again I was stuck in their system. He asked for 72 hours to resolve it, but I said if it couldn't be fixed in 24 hours I would cancel. As he couldn't commit to 24 hour resolution, I told him to cancel. As a precaution I cancelled both the DD with my bank. A few days later I got two emails from Nabuh advising that the DDs had been cancelled.
In the end I initiated a switch to EDF and this is proceeding without any issues and good communication from both EDF and EON.
My conclusion from all of this : If Nabuh can't even sort out their systems to facilitate customers wanting to switch to them and have no means of alerting their staff when a switch application is "stuck" in their own system, what hope for customers if/when they have finally been able to make a switch. My advice would be to stay clear.

Don't know if Together have improved over last year or so but there's a long historic thread about their poor service and general incompetence from 18 months- 2 years ago.  I managed to escape relatively unscathed, but if you're thinking of going with them don't ask brewerdave for his views 😄
  • They didn't come up on the few I tried which may explain why I didn't see it. Still based on the Eastern region (which is the 14.14p/kWh you mentioned, London is 13.71p/kWh) - their Dual Fuel is £972 @ TDCV.

By Comparison, Hub Energy is £888 in the same region (15.86p/kWh Unit but only 14.12p/day SC).

However looking into others, those unit rates for Nabuh may be some of the lowest on the market outside of Neon Reef and Symbio (elec only)

@Shedman has expressed my view on Together Energy. IF you have a Facebook account just look for the T.E customer support page to see how bad they really are !!

Wow, Symbio is cheap (12.879 p per kWh!)  Thx Unclaimed Energy.  Usually, I go with Dual Fuel to make things easier (gas for cooking) but with a price saving like that it's hard to resist.  How reliable are Symbio?  Can't be worse than Nabuh or Together Energy.
Because it's only gas for cooking I only use about 1200 kwh/yr and often the SC is more than my actual bill.  Presumably I can just find the cheapest gas supplier and move to that?  Bit of a hassle having 2 companies but these days I need to save every penny.  Cheers.

Unfortunately Symbio didn't work out cheapest for us, due to our high night time consumption and Symbio's lack of an E7 tariff  :(
Nabuh and Utilita came up as lowest cost, but in the end I decided to pay a little more and lock in a 2 year fixed EDF deal with no exit fee. If prices do head south any time soon, I'll jump ship.

There's a huge Symbio thread, possibly worth taking a look there.

Cheap for a reason, which is the virtually non-existent customer service, been with them for a fairly long time and couldn't recommend them to anybody unwilling or unable to keep on top of any problems that arise pdq.

To balance that out a liitle the few issues I've had haven't been anything major, just minor irritations that take an age to sort out.
  • Avoid Symbio... Unless you can afford them taking out extra direct debits whenever they need the extra cash (twice a month atm) Neon Reef will prob be ok to go for as they aren't that much more expensive and their service is reasonably good atm (for now, same directors as Utility Point though).

You're probably better off going for split Elec & Gas, finding an Elec supplier with low unit rates and a Gas supplier with low SC rates.

Hub Energy or Zog Energy might be your best options for Gas by itself.
