Clarification of customer right to cancel Off premise or distance contract

Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for some guidance. In January I took signed an agreement for a new car on PCP, this was all done remotely without visiting the showroom or meeting the salesperson face to face. I have paid a deposit but have not taken delivery of the vehicle or have a definitive date for delivery. Since the order was placed I have got wind of some possible changes to my job, although there is nothing in writing or definite about these changes I'm concerned about carrying on with the agreement so I am looking to cancel the PCP. I have not discussed my circumstances with the dealership and I suspect if I do they will try and talk me out of cancelling. But I have checked the agreement and found various paragraphs related to cancellation and came across a section related to off premise or distance contract, the wording is at the end of this thread so I would like to understand if this could apply should I decide to cancel. TIA.

Where the Customer is a consumer who has purchased the Vehicle via an off-premises or distance contract the Customer also has the legal right to cancel the agreement within 14 days of delivery of the Vehicle. Full details of how these cancellation rights work and any restrictions and requirements which apply are set out in the pre-contract information sheet which is provided to eligible customers.

Yes you have the right to cancel under those regulations. They may still try and get you to change your mind but just be firm or email them your cancellation

As above, yes you have the right to cancel but bear in mind cancelling the sales contract is not he same as cancelling the finance agreement, although you also have 14 days to do that too. So you need to make sure that when or if you do cancel that the finance agreement is cancelled at the same time.
  • Thanks all. The dealership are fine with this so it's sorted so appreciate your help and advice!
