Hotel cancelled booking

Could anybody let me know what my rights are :-
1: booked a room and had email confirmation 

2: was book now pay at hotel

3: 6 months later had email saying that they’re cancelling my booking as a somebody wants to book whole hotel for the near by festival

4: did not offer any compensation other than an email saying why and hopefully I can get other accommodations

    Terms say that if I cancel with 24hrs I will be charged 1 night

    this is a major hotel chain

    when is your stay? have you looked to see if there are other hotels available? any from the same chain? cheaper or more expensive?

    I expect there are more booking terms and conditions than just that.  Do you have a link that can be shared?  Alternatively name the hotel, hotel group, rate type booked and site used to book.
  • There is probably a clause which reserves the right to cancel your booking without compensation within a certain time frame. Check the t’s and c’s.   As you haven’t paid for it and it is probably a few months off, I would look elsewhere.

    Agree with above. If the hotel had not told you why, and simply cancelled your booking refunding you Zero.
    I do not think you would query.

    Much in the same way as you can cancel your booking without penalty. The T&C's will allow the hotel to do likewise.

    Compensation for what? Have you checked other hotels for the relevant date to see if you will be out of pocket at all? How far off is the booking?
