Colonial Mutual life - Winterthur

I have found a life assurance policy of my late fathers which was Colonial Mutual and transferred to Winterthur- I have tried - they seem to have gone out of business - I have tried Aviva who say they only took pensions. I have tried all the various agencies including Help the Aged, Age Concern etc & lots more including the Ombudsman and have got zero back - please can anyone help me - been trying over 12 months

Winterthur ended up at AXA who was then bought by Friends Provident who then merged with Aviva.

 - I have tried Aviva who say they only took pensions. 

They took life and pensions.  However, which office at Aviva did you try?     Their systems are not fully integrated.  So, some bits of Aviva cant see other bits.  Winterthur individual life & pensions were out of:

If the policies matured, surrendered or lapsed before the purchases by Aviva or the legacy companies, then Aviva may not have been supplied with the details on those.
