My dad has had a message on his journal to say they will call him on Thursday to conduct a review of information. Is this standard procedure?

I imagine they want to verify some of the details on his claim. If the message has come on via his journal you at least know it's genuine.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1

I can find no information on the 'Risk Review' team so don't know where they fit in.
Until he knows what they are asking him he will not know what it is about but there is no reason to panic (easier said than done, I know).Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
I can understand why your dad might be panicking, but it would be better if he can be calm when they call. He just needs to answer the questions that they have, which are most likely to be due to something his hasn't been clear about. He just needs to explain the situation better and they will convert the answer in the form that the Universal Credit system needs.
If in clarifying his answers it becomes apparent to them that he is not eligible to claim UC, they may tell him this there and the, in which case he could ask them to clarify why not. They may just get ask all questions then need to and made a note of the answers, then update his journal with the decision. You can reassure him that he will be able to get an explanation, and that he can get help arguing against the decision either from Citizens Advice or from here. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -

During the pandemic claims were taken on a policy of trust and protect, to enable DWP to get through the volume of new claims, this meant DWP were trusting the information given was correct, they are now selecting random claims to check the information given was correct. As long as your dad gave the correct information he has nothing to worry about, it is important to answer the call as the claim wil, be suspended if they can't get hold of him0

@Curtishorner1 this is a public internet forum and you need to remove your email address. You won't receive a phone call from anyone here because we are not DWP.
