Can anyone tell me if there is a name for a thing that some dodgy sales people engage in when they offer you something at a very inflated price which is clearly ridiculous then offer another reduced price and then still reduced one to make it sound like you are getting a really good deal but actually the final price is still too high for what it is for? I hope this makes sense. I remember it being discussed on watchdog rogue traders in the past.

I think they used to call it discounting sales or pressure sales if they say it was £10 but if you buy now it's £1. But the best description is as floppydisk1 said

Its called high pressure sales . sit there all night start high reduce reduce reduce . sign today blah ring my boss at home blah blah . Jate them hate them . should be banned and prison for the company . only way to stop these rouges . Some people actually sign on the first price . I'm in double glazing and have heard people paying thousands for a door that would have cost say 1000 from me .
