This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Wet underfoot after rain during the night - more forecast for today.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, fried mash, beans and mushrooms. Tonight will be chicken - not sure how I will serve that but will think of something.
Yesterday work was relentless again, but today I'm doing work for something else.
Keep safe and well x

Morning

The weather is much better so I've been outside a lot more. I sowed some tomato seeds about a week ago, didn't expect them to come to anything because they're three years out of date but they're an inch tall already. I don't remember tomatoes popping up this quickly, maybe they're mutants, lol.
I've dyed some faded clothes back to black, they look brand new now. I didn't realise Dylon dye doesn't need salt anymore, I'd asked mr tru to pick up 500g of it. He said they only had 750g tubs so that's what he bought, then gave me two. I asked what the second one was for and he said 'just in case'. Of what? 'I don't know'.
Miss tru bought some sweetpeas for mother's day a few years ago, I save the seeds and sow them each year. This year's popped through the compost on sunday, they must've known what day it was, lol. They're on the lounge windowsill at the moment, I'd like them to stay there but I'm not sure if they can be kept indoors – anyone know?
I added mother's day presents to birthday presents on the table in the lounge, I have quite a haul! A couple of things are outside, I have an azalea and a rose to plant.
Looking forward to a peaceful day today. I'm meeting my friend, she lives on the road behind mine and our dogs are best friends. They need a good run down the park but neither of us will go down there if we're alone at the moment, too many dog thefts going on. Miss tru was given a rape alarm when she started a job a few years ago, I carry that. My friend carries a body spray while she waits for her alarm to arrive, after a quick test we know the alarm is very painful on the ears and the spray will sting the eyes. If we're together, you will be blinded, deafened, left with burning eyes and a splitting headache. Approach at your peril. lol

Happy Birthday tru!
Hope DD's ex got what he deserved RR. Your family's strength amazes me.
Washing just about to finish so that can lounge about on the airer all day although we are forecast sunshine today but don't want to risk it. Yesterday wasn't too bad, managed to take the little one for a walk after work.
Thinking of those with worries and troubles, especially Marie.
Have a good day, take care. XX14 -
Morning all, up at silly o'clock today
.I have a sm delivery this morning with lots of subs and no shows apparently, oh well I'm sure we'll get by without stuff. Some of it is Dad's though and he won't be pleased, still he doesn't understand the workings of the sm online shop.He went home yesterday a happy bunny, we paid all his bills etc and he had a carrier bag full of food goodies, however that will be short lived when I take his shopping up today and things are MIA or changed
Later it will be feet up and tonight I'll have a lavender bath, then perhaps I can get a decent sleep.Tru happy birthday, have a lovely day.Hope everyone has a goodish day.Take care all, stay safe and keep well.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently15 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting NMLC.Grey and damp here, yesterday was nice tho, I even got some washing almost dry.Tru, I've got 3 tomato seeds through, hope I can keep them going till they can go outside, that'll be quite a few weeks yet though.I've had quite a bit of success dyeing things over the years, hope yours turned out well. Happy birthday as well Tru, quite a few birthdays at the moment. This dognapping is terrible, and frightening. If you can't take your dog for a walk without worrying it's a sad state of affairs, you shouldn't need alarms and suchlike.Hope you sleep well tonight Nanny, it's soul destroying when you're awake half the night.Ruby, DS still has pain in his shoulder and neck, but insurance pays for treatment so hope he arranges it, He's ok though, he's got a courtesy car and his car is being assessed today to see if it can be repaired. Ruby, I hope your DD is ok - that horrible man certainly knows how to hurt people.Nowt happening here today, that I know of anyway, we'll just plod along.Hope everyone has a reasonable day anyway, take care folks.14

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Today is to be a day of two halves the wm says. Miserable and wet this morning then blue sky and sunshine this afternoon.
Happy Birthday TRU have a lovely one! RUBY I hope DD's toxic ex got his just desserts yesterday. GERS how lovely of your DM's friend to e=mail you. NAN I hope the missing shopping isn't dads and his is all p & c!!
So no plans for the day, back to the same old same old after my lovely weekend. I had a hankering for Shepherds Pie yesterday so I made a few and had one for tea and the rest have been rammed in the freezer. I have veg and gravy remaining from yesterday so tea today will involve a freezer dive to find something to accompany it. I'm sure there is still a bit of sliced beef in gravy out there somewhere!
Have a good day folks whatever you are up to. ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Take care one and all and stay safe and sane x

Morning folks.🎂🥂 Happy Birthday Tru, I hope it's filled with cake, fizz and plenty of pampering.Yesterday wasn't entirely slothful though I didn't move mountains either. The state of DMs stainless steel toaster was disgraceful, the top was especially bad with a burnt crust. I'd tried before to clean it without success. Browsing the net brought a cream called Vistal to my attention. It's been sitting in a cupboard for a fortnight so I got it out and set to work. The stuff is really good, it didn't take much to get rid of the crust so now the whole toaster is gleaming. Then I took the cream to a very very old stainless steel kitchen knife. That took a bit more welly but is now smooth, stain free and looking fabulous. I felt really satisfied so rewarded myself with a period of sloth. 😀
DM sat out of bed again doing some painting then decided the work wasn't good enough so washed it off and started again. I didn't know that watercolour canvases could be washed. Every day I learn something new. Yesterday it was two things, apart from the canvas washing I found that using a micro grater is easier when keeping the cheese still and moving the grater over it instead of moving the cheese. Daft, I know but it delighted me. It's a sign of the times.Ruby - I hope that court went well yesterday.Bella - your slow motion house move sounds stressful, I'm hoping that you can sort out the furniture problem soon.Marie - thinking about you.Mehefin - good to 'see' you yesterday. As Wednesday is meant to bring some more wintry weather I'm going to go out today. Today we will learn more about our route out of lockdown, I really want to go somewhere!
Happy Tuesday to everyone.13 -
Morning all very wet here this morning dog will be walked in a bit I don't worry too much no one will take her she doesn't like most people and only likes a couple of other dogs to be honest i am not even sure she likes herself so anyone approaching sees a snarling whirling dervish so i feel quite safe she also isn't let off lead as she has no recall so i have her on a long line on the field . Its Tuesday so pie night in the Bella house and bed change day I need to clean the box room and make the bed for the photos other than that its a pretty mundane day
Tru Happy Birthday have a lovely day
Hester Hope Steve's test come back ok
Ruby Hopefully the BF turned up to court and got his just deserts
Dumpling thinking of you and your family
Right better get a shifty on i need to hide some wood in the bins that DH took down in DS room he wanted to take them to the other house for his workshop because there is not enough in the garage that we will have to move
Have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe and dry xxSlava Ukraini15 -
Just popping in quickly to say good morning, damp here, fairly bright. Off shortly to get blood tests, Gps surgery doing them at the request of both departments at the big hospital to save me having to travel to Birmingham as I am still shielding.
No family news as yet, although DM seems to have cheered up a little, poor thing had some tummy trouble.
Hugs and spoons, catch up with you all later. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)12 -
Hester, I hope Steve's bloods are ok. My Steve keeps getting new results on his Mychart from tests for things we've never heard of and have to google. They are being very thorough since he reported his troubling symptoms. Luckily all the results so far couldn't be more average, hopefully the CT scan he is due to have in a few minutes won't show any changes in his lymph nodes.
Happy birthday Tru, it's mine tomorrow and a friend's the day after. March birthday's are far too common around here. I'm having a very quiet start to the day. L & B & E went off yesterday for some house viewings and will be back in time for dinner tomorrow. Steve has ordered a fish box with a turbot which is one of my absolute favourite fishes (that and dover sole). It also has oysters and scallops - we'll cook the oysters as none of us are very fond of them raw. I was chuckling to myself over your posts yesterday Gers and Monna thinking that you would be turning green and not with envy.
RR I hope the toxic person got what he deserved.
