New Gas meter - need MPRN

Can someone help, I’ve got a property which is let, it’s electric only but once had a gas supply which was removed.
I want to get gas central heating installed and found the old gas pipe, Cadent my gas network supplier came out and did a live or dead test, they confirmed the supply is live, all good so far. I asked the Cadent chap who did the test that I need MPRN to get a new gas meter fitted from the energy supplier, he said nothing to do with them and speak with energy supplier, however energy supplier (octopus energy) are saying they don’t give the MPRN and they need it before they can order a new meter. Any idea how I can get this MPRN to get a new meter??

Thanks, I’ve tried that already, my address is not listed as I don’t have any MPRN, this will be a new gas meter but before the energy company can install it they want the MPRN, hence I need someone to issue me one. It’s not a case of finding one as one doesn’t exist yet.0

Go back to Cadent with a letter headed Complaint,They are the network supplier in your area, and it is they who issue the MPRN numbers when installing Gas suppliesAs there are several network suppliers and each MPRN is unique to that address, I suspect there is a Central Agency who issue them, and your only contact with them must be via Cadent0

Thanks, I’ve not complained and I found that email address after some googling, I’ll see what they come back with.
i just wanted to check who I should be pushing to get the number, it seems like that should be Cadent.
ive got a few complications with this install, currently the dual electrical (E7 & standard electric) is in the name of the tenants, I need to order a gas meter, get that in the name of the tenants and then get the dual electric changed to standard and have the E7 meter removed, eventually the tenants need all energy utilities in their name, not sure if they should be ordering the new gas meter or me as the landlord. Never done this before and can see several obstacles, never easy with utilities, any advice welcomed.0 -
Do you have any legal advice or a solicitor overseeing this and other potential problems?,if not things can get out of hand,expensive,and unpleasant quite quickly in the event of any disagreement.
Unsure but think the tenants should be dealing with the gas and electricity metering situation,provided you've no objection and give them permission to do so as they'll be paying the bills.
Utilities should be in the name of the bill payer not the landlord,who,what and if they pay isn't your responsibility it's theirs.
