Indemnity insurance for absent landlord.

My daughter has had an indemnity insurance raised on her leasehold flat due to absent landlord. Her buyers solicitor has for the last 4 weeks been saying it is with the underwriters, we are now going into the 5th week, does any one have any idea of how long this should take?
Many thanks

Often an absent landlord indemnity policy would be issued instantly and maybe cost £100 or so. I guess there must be some unusual risks in your daughter's case, if it's gone to underwriters.
But even then, 4 weeks seems excessively long. Are you sure that somebody isn't just saying that in order to hide a different problem?

Thank you, I too believe that the her buyer is trying to hide something or buy some time unfortunately her buyers solicitor is not very good at answering any questions put forward by her solicitor , its so frustrating.0

Has your daughter asked the estate agent to chase the buyer to find out the problem? The buyer can then chase their solicitor, if that's required.

Does her solicitor think it's a particularly complex scenario? As above, these policies are usually off-the-shelf, not something needing weeks of pondering by underwriters.1

This does sound odd- we are buying a place with an absent landlord. Our sellers bought an indemnity policy through their solicitor- took a day or two to sort, certainly not weeks. So there is probably more to your daughter situation.1
