Manxman_in_exile said:Another two thoughts:(1) Are you absolutely sure it has not been delivered to a member of staff? I'm not suggesting anything "dodgy" but I can think of several reasons why it hasn't reached the ward yet. eg gone to works dept for electrical testing; staff changeovers etc(2) Are you sure your daughter was able to give a correct delivery address? Is it possible the address given by your daughter was only partially correct an dit is somewhere else in the hospital? (Even if the address was not 100% I believe Argos are still responsible for getting it into the hands of the purchaser).
It may also have gone to the central "supplies" department (if there is one)1 -
As JamoLew says above, the "central supplies" department (or it may be called something like "Goods Inwards" or "Goods Received") might be worth checking. The problem is (and this is no criticism of your daughter - on the contrary good for her for trying to do the right thing) but she's probably gone about replacing the TV in the wrong way.For example, what might have happened is: The delivery driver turns up and asks the first person he sees "I have a delivery for X ward, where do I go?" The person they ask thinks it's an "official" hospital purchase rather than a private purchase, and directs them to Goods Received. It then gets into the official system for handling purchases, but because there is no official order for it, nobody knows what to do with it and it falls into a black hole somewhere. You need to try to find out from hospital management where an item that was ordered privately by a patient might end up if it was mistaken for an official hospital purchase. The nurses on the ward almost certainly won't know so you'll have to find out from them who to ask. A ward admin clerk just might know but probably won't unles they are accustomed to ordering official purchases.1

If the above suggestion doesn't work and it can't be tracked down to the Works electrician's dept or to goods received, then I still think it's the responsibility of Argos to replace or refund. From the post you made earlier I'd go back to Argos and emphasise the following points to demonstrate that the TV could not have been properly delivered to your daughter (or to somebody authorised by her):cupcakecaz said:The unit is totally secured so no one can get out nor can anyone get down to the doors where the delivery drivers wait to drop off parcels, only staff can do this. There are deliveries every day as a lot of the people are on there long term. My daughter has had many parcels delivered there ( big ones) and this is the only one gone missing. I have called the hospital ward manager and they have searched everywhere and asked all staff if any of them took delivery, even on the other 2 wards and none of them have heard of it, you cannot miss a 50 inch tv.There is only 3 wards but they are all separate, so if the driver buzzed my daughters ward only that ward would hear the bell and speak through the intercom system and they would be the only ones to have gone down to take delivery, plus my daughter was there on the ward at the time and hung about waiting to see if anyone was bringing it to the ward, and no one did.I have a copy of the order and the email confirmation from Argos and everything is spelt completely correct and it is the full postal address with ward name etc, even her phone number is at the bottom of the address so the driver only had to call her and she would send a nurse down to collect, ( this happens a lot). The tv is so big in its box that a nurse alone would not have been able to carry it i feel, it would need 2 members of staff to carry it anywhere
Good luck1 -

The tv is so big in its box that a nurse alone would not have been able to carry it i feel, it would need 2 members of staff to carry it anywhere so i cannot see that a member of staff would have taken hold of it. I have a horrible feeling that the driver could be lying or someone has randomly said oh yes i work for that ward just give it to me!! Argos say they delivered it on 21st Feb so it would have got to the ward by now.Hi cupcakecaz,
I am also thinking the driver has nicked it. My son is also currently in a n NHS mental hospital. I take in a bag of snacks in every few days. The security guard lets you in, he books them in and phones the staff from the ward to come down and collect them.
Which hospital is your daughter in?
