Damage to floor by eco insulation

I had some free underfloor insulation put in and a new boiler fitted under one of the local councils eco schemes. The workmen have butchered my bare floorboards in the lounge leaving them badly cut, splintered, and an absolute eye sore in a room where the varnished floorboards were a feature.

I have complained to the company, and the manager. Another staff member has inspected the work and agreed it is poor. The manager has since said they refuse to do the job on exposed floorboards for this very reason. Clearly the person who came to survey and the two doing the shoddy job didn’t know this. Anyway she has agreed to repair the patches. I argued that any repairs will still leave me with unsightly patches that don’t match the whole floor. It’s too much of a mess to sand and fill and will need parts of the floorboards replacing. I don’t want the whole floor sanded and restrained as that’s a grim job. Replacing the entire floor is the only way to make it look ok. But I feel that’s a bit excessive so have argued only for a fix by a carpenter of my choosing. I have just submitted a quote of £250 and have received a reply that it’s excessive and they will pay half that.

What are my rights here? I feel like I could be arguing for much more than I am and that I’m being reasonable. My floor looks awful. TIA

You have a duty to minimise the cost.  To be honest, £250 sounds reasonable already but if the floor can be reinstated by sanding and filling for £125 then they don't have to fund what you're proposing just because it's more convenient.  However, their "half of £250" offer sounds arbitrary, and I suspect if you'd had a quote of £500 they'd have offered half of that!
