E mail/Telephone contact with Avro Energy
Hi I am new to the forum. We are with Avro Energy and have been very pleased with them but I have recently e mailed them and had no reply. Yet to telephone as I understand calls are for urgent business only. We are due to move house and wonder if we should stay with them. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can't stay with Avro. As you're leaving, your call is urgent, so go ahead and call. Don't forget to send meter readings on the day you move out, preferably taking photos. As soon as you take possession of the new property you'll need to read the meters, register with the incumbent supplier(s) and give your payment details. Only then are you free to switch to Avro or the supplier(s) of your choice.0

Oh thank you for that. I shall ring them. It's just so off putting with the recorded message saying it has to be urgent. I thought as it asks on the Avro Website if you want to stay with them that you could without registering with the existing supplier at the new property. I wouldn't want to get locked into an expensive tariff.0

I wouldn't want to get locked into an expensive tariff. The company that you are with might give you the same arrangements at the new property, and it's possible that they might even notify the incumbent supplier(s) that you are switching, but there's no getting away from the fact that when you take possession you will be on an expensive Deemed Contract with the incumbent(s) and you will have to pay them for the usage and daily charges until your switch to Avro has completed. There have been many tales of woe on MSE where people have tried to ignore this basic rule and are being chased by debt collectors acting for a company with whom they wrongly believe they have never had a contract.0

Many thanks for the advice. I was concerned about staying with Avro as they are not answering my e mails and telephone contact seemed problematic. Now I understand the process it makes a bit easier.0

Avro made it awkward for me to terminate my account and get a final bill on selling my home. I had to apply to something like the change of tenancy team and give details such as the selling agent before they would accept it. It put me off going back to them, although my experience before then had been largely positive.0

Don't expect to get a refund of your credit balance either without a lot of hassle.
