Nightmare with British Gas and Warm Home Discount (Every Year)

Hello boys, gals and non-binary pals, 
I've been stuck with and struggle with British Gas as my energy supplier. Each year I mean to switch hoping for a cheaper deal but I always forget before I apply for my warm home discount and end up stuck for another year not wanting to waste the money, also EVERY year without fail I end up getting the discount sent to me at the very end of March when I need it least which is frustrating but it is what it is I guess. I STILL have yet to receive this year's discount so far, however, I REALLY want to move suppliers because of two things:

1) I am stuck on a pre-pay meter as I had bad credit (still not got great credit but trying to resolve that slowly). 
2) British Gas now have limited places to buy the energy for the meter so I end up having to go miles out of my way which gives me major anxiety. 

Because I am probably going to receive the Warm Home Discount in the next week or two I don't know what to do because for the last 12mths or so I have had to do this huge round trip to get my energy and it ALWAYS runs out and I end up on emergency and then forget about that too. It's so frustrating. 

Anyway, I would really like to move suppliers, but will I end up losing all the discount that I haven't even gotten yet?

yes likewise with bulb , every excuse known to mankind , including "it was processed on 18th feb" and you should have it within 14 days by email

having spoken to DWP warm home section , not a lot you or I can do , however the person at DWP commented that by "rules"*** they have to pay out by 31st march , and that new rates for elecricity come in on april 1st , in many cases people will see a £30- 50 rise in costs (not sure about that) 
but the old addage , you always fill up with petrol the day before the budget 
**payment by 31st march rules , there are non , no sanctions nothing , they can do what they want , what can ofgen or DWP do , take them off the WHD list ?

Does anyone know if I can keep the Warm Homes Discount or do I have to give it up if I switch to another supplier? It's not even arrived yet so I'm hoping I can swap and have it moved over to another supplier instead
