Nightmare with British Gas and Warm Home Discount (Every Year)

Background - I have pretty severe mental health issues and often forget a lot of things
TL;DR: I'm Still waiting for my Warm Home Discount to come through, I want to change suppliers as it's inconvenient and expensive. Thanks

Hello boys, gals and non-binary pals, 
I've been stuck with and struggle with British Gas as my energy supplier. Each year I mean to switch hoping for a cheaper deal but I always forget before I apply for my warm home discount and end up stuck for another year not wanting to waste the money, also EVERY year without fail I end up getting the discount sent to me at the very end of March when I need it least which is frustrating but it is what it is I guess. I STILL have yet to receive this year's discount so far, however, I REALLY want to move suppliers because of two things:

1) I am stuck on a pre-pay meter as I had bad credit (still not got great credit but trying to resolve that slowly). 
2) British Gas now have limited places to buy the energy for the meter so I end up having to go miles out of my way which gives me major anxiety. 

Because I am probably going to receive the Warm Home Discount in the next week or two I don't know what to do because for the last 12mths or so I have had to do this huge round trip to get my energy and it ALWAYS runs out and I end up on emergency and then forget about that too. It's so frustrating. 

Anyway, I would really like to move suppliers, but will I end up losing all the discount that I haven't even gotten yet?
