End of entitlement for 18yr old

My daughter is nearly 18 and hopefully off to university in September- normally she would be sitting her a-levels this summer but exams have been cancelled. This means students will finish college a month earlier than normal. My question is does that mean child tax credit and child benefit will also end earlier too? I think child and parents are being penalised for something that is not in our control. I have looked online for information but it is confusing and conflicting. Normally my daughter would finish college end of June; meaning payments would continue until possibly 31st August? But because there are no exams going ahead it looks as though she will finish end of May resulting in payments also stopping 31st May?

As you say payments would usually end on the last Monday of August, only suggestion I have is to telephone HMRC0

My expectation is that entitlement will run on until the end of summer as normal. They are still considered students until the end of August regardless of when the schools / colleges finish. 18 Year olds who are leaving school / college are not entitled to claim benefits (Universal Credit) themselves until September because there is an underlying entitlement for their parents to claim Child Benefit and Child Tax Credits up until this point.

My 17 year old daughter is full time at college, due to finish this year. I have just received a letter stating child benefit will stop on the day before her 18th birthday, at the beginning of June.I will be ringing them to check, because as the OP stated - there is conflicting information regarding when CB stops.Sorry! Did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of yours!0

It depends whether they are continuing in full time education in September, if they're not then it ends once they finish their education, what ever date that is.
