Booking car scrapping online?

That's the link i clicked to get a quote. WBAC in a Google search claimed to do a scrap car quote but when i clicked it it was just a car purchase quote & the assumptions were that it was mechanically sound etc etc - so nothing to do with scrapping at all then!
From the above link the quote given was acceptable. Just wondering if anyone on here has used that website to book scrappage of a car before and 1) do you actually get the amount given or do they come out whinging and moaning about every minor dint and scuff and then give you a packet of Haribo instead as payment? 2) Do you have to be there at the time or can you give the details to someone else to be there so that you don't have to take time off work?

I didn’t use them but did use a similar one a couple of years back, and a company called Charles Trent gave a quote. When I accepted they wanted to know if the car was drivable or moveable and if there were wheels/tyres on it (so they knew how to get it on the lorry). Arranged a day for collection.
they collected the car and keys (car was in my name but OH dealt with it all on the day) they signed the slip from the registration docs and gave a signed confirmation that it was for scrap. Then a few days later the exact money they quoted landed in my bank. A few weeks later I got a “certificate of destruction” emailed to me.
I found it very straightforward.
edit. I used motorwise.comworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
The URL says it all. NETWORK.
That's not one national scrappy company with lots of branches, it's a network of individual scrappies. Phone around them directly.0 -
Having just done this with my old car, it does seem depend on where you are in the counrty - I tried a coupe of the local ones and they were quoting £70-ish to collect. I tried 3 of the online networks and got, in order, £134, £145 and finally £156 through jamjar. All done min of fuss and double what the immediate locals would pay. As it happened, the "local" agent of the network I went with was only 12 miles away, and one I drive very closely past on my way to work.AdrianC said:The URL says it all. NETWORK.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

Last time I scrapped one, in 2014 time, I just got a few quotes (most had some algorithm that assumed that as it was a 2005 plate it would be worth more selling it) and the one I picked took the car away on a loader and paid me £90 for the car scrap0
