Without ID documents when hey phone you they will do a 'biographical' identity check. This means they will ask you things about yourself that they know the answers to from other government records.

Reading some people's bad experiences with UC i wasn't expecting it to be so quick and easy.
I suspect most people have straightforward positive experiences with both UC and DWP staff as I have myself, it's the minority we hear about. Unfortunately, most large schemes struggle with situations that don't fit their pre-determined 'categories',

    Hi guys,

    Just an update...

The local DWP phoned me the next day after posting on here, & my ID is now confirmed.

I also agreed to my commitments which are to engage & look for help for my mental health.

I'm also being sent a questionnaire about my health.

I've been doing a bit of googling around & have read in a few places that if I'm in receipt of PIP enhanced daily living, I'm automatically placed in the LCWRA group or similar?

Is the LCWRA equivalent to the ESA support group or WRAG that was a pain?

I can confirm I'm now in receipt of PIP enhanced daily living & standard mobility - so is this true, and if so, why am I being sent the questionnaire?

    Cheers as always.

"...that if I'm in receipt of PIP enhanced daily living, I'm automatically placed in the LCWRA group"

No, this isn't the case.   The WCA assessment is separate from a PIP assessment.

There is however a provision within the WCA, - that if your health (or others) would be at substantial risk, then you can be placed in the LCW without scoring the necessary 15 points.

Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.

    Hi Alice,

    Thank you for the reply.

Prior to being caged up, I was in the ESA support group & I think I was placed in this group due to serious suicide attempts & thoughts.

I'm still having suicidal thoughts & was jailed for a serious assault on a stranger, and 1 minor assault - so would this be worth mentioning and present a high probability of placing me in the "substantial risk to myself or others" category, therefore in the LCWRA UC group?

I've self-referred to various mental health agencies and engaged with probation for help, too.

Yes definitely.. Just so that you know the UC50 work capability assessment form is exactly the same as the ESA50 one.
  • Cheers Poppy, always grateful for your assistance & good advice. 👍🏻

That only applies to claimants over State Pension age (who may be included on a UC claim if they have a partner below pension age).
