Estate agent asked about deposit

Also interested in hearing from any estate agents, I have found that when viewing houses sometimes it seems like I am dismissed becoase I am a single female who looks younger than I am. I actually viewed a house yesterday and the estate agent asked if I understood the bids were over asking price, and she told me there were much cheaper houses in the same area😂. I am not sure if they would have said the same to a couple, or even a single man.Very frustrating. However, it has never been younger male estate agents, i have been given the you are wasting my time’ vibe three times, always by older female and always in houses I can easily afford.0

I know two people who have used house viewings to justify travelling around the country. I don't blame estate agents doing some checks at the moment to ensure people's time isn't being wasted in order to visit the sea side etc
For me it wouldn't matter it estate agents knew I was a millionaire. They wouldn't get 1p more out of me than what I wanted to payAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......4 -
I am selling my house with this particular estate agent so they know I’m not a time waster!0

I offered on two houses in January and had to send both EAs my AIP and bank statements to prove I had the deposit. One of them actually called me up as the email wasn't showing one of the statements properly and he thought I was £10k short and wouldn't take the house off the market until it was resolved.1

I assume you were a first time buyer? Because my deposit is my equity0

Lots of properties are being downvalued by lenders at the moment. So somebody with minimal equity, max LtV, is going to be a far less attractive buyer than somebody who has the headroom to absorb any potential downvaluation.1

Jeepers_Creepers said:Totally understand why they need to ask about funds, and even deposit size.Annoying, tho' - mil has looked at a few houses recently, and you can't help but feel you are handing over a useful bit of bargaining info to the EA when your bank statement shows a balance significantly higher than the 'speculative' offer you've just made...1
