Hoping someone can help
My wife is being made redundant as a result of a restructure that starts in April. She is aged 57
She will get redundancy and an unreduced pension
She is entitled to 3 months notice. She could have been asked to work it, been put on garden leave but they have offered her the opportunity PILON to start on 9 April.
My question is
This as I understand means she can seek employment elsewhere immediately. She has no intention to do this as will retire. She has been given her redundancy figures based on her being 58 which she will be in late April and is still awaiting a pension figure confirmation but which for decision purposes is based on her going on 30 June. Our concern i if let go at 57 11 months will this penalise her ? This is in terms of her lump sum calculation on her pension (that increases after her 58th birthday by around £1500 and her final pension
As I understand it she will get paid up (the same as in Garden leave) but the benefit of GL is although she could be called back, she would accrue leave (could be an additional 7 days for the 3 months), will be able to keep hold of her IT kit until officially finished but the main one being her pension and lump sum would be higher.
Thoughts and any advice please ? May be overthinking but just would like a steer on the likely position. She has asked the question of work today by e mail as her chat was only last week

That's one for the pension people no idea how that would work, should be in the policies if a decent sized place or public sector.
In a full PILON situation for redundancy you can add 1 week per year up to 12weeks for years of service to get the date the redundancy is calculated.
That will be why it is 58 and years count back from the later date so start date may also be important.
if not planning to work GL removes any uncertainty
