RT520 tx Salus issues

My daughter has just had a new boiler installed (Vaillant Eco tec 24) and it is controlled by the wireless programmer thermostat as title. It has worked for a few days although initially and twice more now when she has been trying to make adjustments to the programme it has gone into a situation where it ignores the set temperature and just keeps the boiler firing. It is not the boiler as it has worked and (after the Salus is reset) it works now. Has anyone come across this issue before and has a solution? It could be that it is not faulty and she is not following the correct procedure for making adjustments.

I'd contact the installer & get him to change it to another make, salus have been temperamental (crap) for yearsI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
Thanks for that, we have been in touch with the supplier/installer. I've used Salus for "ordinary" thermostats but have no personal experience of wireless types (until now). Any suggestions for a manufacturer?0

Run through the whole set up process again, and also make sure you are using it as it should be. If it becomes clear it just isn't 'right', then you can ask for a replacement. You should have a good idea whether it's the Salus or the boiler/valves at fault by looking at the indicator light on the receiver - one, I guess, will be 'power' and the other 'on'. If the boiler keeps running when the 'on' light is off, then it might not be the Salus's fault.

Cool.I know they are a lot more costly, certainly if bought new (mine was 2nd-hand for £30), but I fitted a Hive 2 to our new extension, and have to say it's a superb design, so easy to reprogram without instructions, and to override the set temp is instant - just turn the knob. It also shows 'actual' room temp and the 'target' you've set - just everything you could want.I have a Heatmiser in the main house, and I need the instructions card just to change the time (which I need to do a couple of times a year as it drifts...). Also had a Horstmann - an early one admittedly - and that was a swine even with instructions... :-(There was another thread on here a few months back, and another Prog Stat was mentioned - it looked great when I looked it up, tho' warily cheap. I'll try and remember which one it was.0

I'm using ESI room stats now (I wouldn't use their valves though)I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

I've had more info from daughter now and it transpires that it was only the temperature reading that was rising uncontrollably; the receiver and therefore the flame was actually OFF. Don't you just love it when you get info in dribs and drabs. Pity I am over two hours drive away so cannot help (even if I was allowed under these current rules). Anyway installer company attending this week.1

I had a cheap salus t105rtf with my new boiler, this is truly awful and very very poor indeed, difficult to program, got shot of it and installed a salus internet based i500. Much much better, easier to program via internet or app on phone, a bit laggy but the damn thing works.0

Thanks for you input. I am still waiting for a report from daughter after the installation company visit. Will update as and when.1

Just to close this issue. Daughter had conversation with the company that installed boiler and programmer/thermostat who said that she should do a reset by removing the batteries. She explained she had done this several times but the fault still occurred; apparently the device will hold power (in the capacitors presumably) and would retain memory of previously set programme times and temperatures so the batteries had to remain out for over 10 minutes. She did this and, annoyingly (her word) it worked - so far. It's been several days and she has been able to change programmes with no issue. Looks like problem solved.1
