Faulty Dell laptop from BT.com shop

Just after some advice on where I stand with a faulty laptop bought online from BT. Com shop in Dec 2020. This dell precision 3550 was OK for a while, and then hubby noticed the sd card port not working. Then the USB ports gave up. To date we have had 4 plus contacts with Dell support. 2 remote accesses, a replaced mother board, and a reinstall of the OS. We have dowloaded all the most recent files, drivers etc. The OS system reinstall seemed to help for a while, but now the camera doesn't work either. Argh! BT have said they can't replace it as dell has replaced a part so the warranty lies with them. I wasn't aware of this from any info I revived from BT shop when I bought the item, in regard to warranty etc. Dell said they can only repair as we didn't buy direct from them. What are my rights, where does the responsibility lie? Can I request a refund from my credit card 'section 75' or could I go to the small claims court? Any ideas folks? Thank you 👍🏼

Go back to BT. If they try to tell you that dell repairing under warranty has invalidated your consumer rights, ask them to confirm their position in writing - after reminding them that attempting to use a contractual term (warranty) to remove or restrict statutory rights is not possible and that misleading a consumer about their rights or trying to restrict/remove a consumers statutory rights can amount to a criminal offence.

If they still refuse, send them a letter before action or start a section 75 claim with the bank. But if the latter, make sure it is a s75 they do and not a chargeback.
